What professionals say about the TummyTub
Traditional bathing procedures can threaten a young infant's security. Then baby screams and the bather becomes tense and uncomfortable, too. The Tummy Tub actually relaxes baby because of the way it supports and contains baby in a flexed position- something familiar from the womb. Baby is calm and so is the bather. Bath time can be a soothing ritual that enhances bonding instead of a battle.
Dr. William Sears, M.D. & Martha Sears, R.N

"The concept is great! I enjoy bathing newborn babies in the TummyTub because they relax as soon as they are immersed in the water. They enjoy the experience so much that they often go to sleep within the first few minutes. There are so many benefits over and above the traditional methods of bathing. With the TummyTub you need a very small amount of water to bath a baby effectively. This makes it easy to carry to and from wherever you choose to bath the baby and also conserves water! And with the TummyTub I can bath a baby while sitting comfortable on a low stool without having to bend awkwardly over a bath."

"As a chiropractor I see the TummyTub as a wonderful design to help maintain the correct posture of the baby while bathing. The familiar foetal position is comfortable and reassuring for the baby throughout early development as their gentle spinal curves are forming. The small size of the TummyTub and the upright position of the baby also make bathing time much less strain on the back and shoulders of the parent."

"It is widely
known that during pregnancy the joints of the body, including pelvis and spine,
become more flexible and mobile to assist in the birth of the baby. This
flexibility remains for approximately 6 months following the birth, making
joints more prone to injury. The TummyTub, in being lightweight and easily
transportable, is of great assistance for new mums in reducing the load on the
spine. This is especially useful following a caesarian delivery or for those
women who suffer from back pain. The TummyTub also
relaxes the baby at bath time by supporting the baby in the same foetal
position as in the womb. This can be particularly helpful if the baby has
problems with colic. The bath uses much less water than a conventional baby
bath, which is also an important cost and water saving feature."

"I wish I had heard of the TummyTub when my first child was born. Our second child Charlotte was 17 months old when she had her first TummyTub experience. I thought she might be put off by the compact nature of the TummyTub, but no. She settled straight to the bottom all snug and warm up to her shoulders in the water. She hasn't used the large bath in our bathroom since! I love that I can choose where I bath her. Being winter, the warmest room in our house is the family room alongside our slow combustion heater. I simply lay out a small sheet of plastic with a bath towel on top, beneath the TummyTub this catches any of the inevitable splashes that seem to accompany bathing older babies. I'll use the same technique in summer when our lounge room is the coolest place to retreat to in the summer heat.
Since using the TummyTub, Charlotte can spend longer in her bath without the water going cold. I also don't have to feel guilty about giving her two baths a day if she asks because of the tiny amount of water need to fill the TummyTub. The TummyTub is easy to fill and empty too and it's so light even when full of water. The lightweight design is much more manageable than the alternative baby baths.
I have been singing the praises of the TummyTub to many parents of newborn and premature babies in the Intensive Care Nursery where I work as a registered nurse. Recent research has heightened our awareness of developmental care and the TummyTub certainly helps bath babies in a way that lessens stress on the infant and promotes a lovely flexed position. With the need to support only the infant's head, this allows a free hand to wash and comfort the baby rather than an anxious parent hanging onto a wriggling infant for dear life.
Considering the financial cost of various bathing aids that are on the market nowadays, bathing babies has gotten to be an expensive exercise. I could have avoided many unnecessary purchases if I'd only purchased a TummyTub first. Most other devices are only able to be used for specific ages and weight limits. Another great feature of the TummyTub being that it can be used from birth and for as long as your child feels comfortable in it. Charlotte has been using hers for two months and has recently turned 19 months of age and I can imagine her using it for quite some time to come!
My heartfelt thanks for introducing me to the TummyTub."

Christiane Friedrich BCLC, qualified advisor on breastfeeding and lactation from Hamburg:"Both as a qualified adivsor on lactation and as a nursery nurse, I use the TummyTub® for restless babies in the maternity wards and in the breastfeeding classes of the hospital (1.800 births/year); fantastic!"
Christel Ernst, midwife from Langendernbach:"I have tested TummyTub® with patients at home and am totally smitten."
Silke Fichtermayer, midwife from Homburg:"The TummyTub® is simply fantastic. Never before have I seen such relaxed babies. For mother and child it is a dream come true."
Prof. Dr. med. Dirk Heinrich, medical superintendent of the gynaecological department of the Pforzheim hospital:"Being the medical superintendent of the gynaecological department of the Pforzheim hospital I learned about the TummyTub® in a very early stage. The personnel of our maternity units, as well as the personnel of the nursery wards, and the teachers of the pre- and post natal classes asked for this bathing device. That's how I was able - as soon as this bath was available - to judge personally, that a baby feels very comfortable in the TummyTub®. At one of my night rounds I visited a baby, who was crying inconsolably, while the mother was at her wits' end. To handle this situation I recommended a bath in the TummyTub®, and in my and the midwives presence the baby was bathed. After a short time the baby calmed down and was apparently feeling very happy. First of all, from a medical point of view, I consider the position of the child in the TummyTub® as being very good, as the newborn is able to contact the wall both with its hands and feet. This creates for the newborn a situation similar to the womb. It can move its feet and arms freely, which leads to careful scanning of the available room. This in contrast to the traditional 'childrens' bath, in which the baby - because of the size of the bath - can't touch the walls at all. Apart from that, is it hindered in its movements by the hands of the father or mother. That's why I - as a doctor - can recommend this kind of bathing with the TummyTub® to every maternity hospital."
Nicole Merz, midwife from Hünfeld-Ohren:"Stick'm in and be happy - just perfect! I was very skeptical about this bathing bucket at the beginning. But after two baths I have changed my opinion radically. Babies love to bathe in the TummyTub®, are at ease, even laugh and are totally relaxed. My compliments!"
Gabi Horn-Stinner, midwife from Marburg:Very easy for mothers to carry (when filled with water). Bathing is possible in the baby's room on the commode, very relaxed babies, especially premature ones from 2000 grams or more, doesn't take much space in small homes."
Marianne Dresen, midwife from Stollberg:"The TummyTub® meets with a wide response by my grandchild. The moment she sees the bucket, she goes in! Even now after 20 months of age!"
Jutta Laufer-Wilhelmi from Haina/Kloster:"Pure bathing fun! Bath for parents and child. Especially the children with colic - mentioned in your brochure and video - relax super. Apart from that I have noticed on more than one occasion that babies who have troubles belching, do this immediately, when they are in the TummyTub®. Furthermore I think the handling and the small amount of water needed, is brilliant."
Annette Materne, midwife from Salzgitter:"Babies are more relaxed and more playful. The younger the child, the easier it adopts the bath. Stressed babies don't cry but relax. For babies from 9 to 11 month it is a very good training learning to stand."
Gertraude Jahnke, midwife from Hannover:The children are wonderfully relaxed and quiet. Many fall asleep immediately. The parents are also enthusiastic and the price is just fine."
Ingrid Beckers, midwife from Alsdorf:"Babies with colicky problems relax very fast, feel really happy, because they can feel the walls on all sides just like in the womb."
One of the things that I like to do is the newborn bath. I'm not able to do it often because frequently I have another patient (or two or three), but it's something that I enjoy. I'm not talking about bathing the baby in the warmer with a basin and wash rags while it cries. I like to actually put the baby in a bath, or give a Leboyerbath in the TummyTub. The nursery nurses about have a fit, thinking that it's "gross" to put the infant in a baby bathtub, and they worry about the cord. The kid came out of a fluid environment and it won't hurt the cord one bit by being in the water. After the bath, we apply triple dye to dry it up and keep it clean, so no harm done. And the babies love it. They aren't cold and I like to think that they feel a bit better by being back in water for awhile, kind of a way to ease into the world. I usually get the dads involved. I show them that all they need to do is support their child's head so it's above water and they will just float and kick around. Moms seem to enjoy resting a bit and watching their partner ever so gently give the baby it's first bath.
As a mother and a certified nurse midwife, I have nothing but positive things to say about our experience with the Tummy Tub. I highly recommend it to my clients, friends, and colleagues. I really hope it sparks a revolution in infant care products. More products should be designed to promote family comfort, peace, and bonding as is the case with the Tummy Tub and 2-Step Stool. Bath time is no longer a stressful, back breaking chore to get through. Instead it is a healthy, warm, loving interaction between parent and child. I am very impressed with the Tummy Tub and 2-Step stool's ease of use, functionality, and design which captures the wisdom of the mother's womb; inspired by divine creation.Jannah Alaoui CNM, MSN

As a birth and postpartum doula and apprentice midwife, I have been enthusiastically recommending Tummy Tub to my clients and other couples I work with! It is always a pleasure to see fussy new babies calm and settle themselves as they settle comfortably into a deep, soothing warm bath that is so similar to the womb environment they recently left. My babysitter bathes her 6 month old son in my demo tummy Tub quite often, as well, and although a very substantial little fellow, he still fits beautifully and enjoys his baths immensely. My clients who use the Tummy Tub tell me they can't imagine how anyone does without one, and I'm glad they have such a useful tool to help them in the early months of parenting. I look forward to seeing these babies transition to using the base as a step stool in the years to come when they are too big for the tub and too small to reach the sink without help. What a wonderful invention!

The TummyTub is a marvelous product. As a doula, childbirth educator, and lactation educator, and midwife's assistant, I have the privilege of working with a lot of new parents. One of the most important things I can teach them is how to calm their baby down. As soon as I got to try out the TummyTub for myself, I knew it was special. Unlike other baby bathtubs, the TummyTub allows the baby to be in an upright, womb-like posture, which combined with the warm water helps to relax a crying baby and alleviate gas and colicky pain. I am excited to share the TummyTub with my clients. I can't think of a better way to welcome a new baby and gently ease her entry into the world.

We have been putting our babies in the tub shortly after birth for the last 11 years (my first tester was my nephew) and then they take the tub home to use up to the first year of life. Even my doctor colleagues have the nurses put the babies in the tub right away. We don't treat the cords with alcohol or blue triple dye and even with getting the cord wet daily and even several times a day we have never had an umbilical cord infection and the cords dry up and fall off earlier than the cords that we're treated. There is known to be a natural anti-infection property in the cord that does not require any treatment. We also put boys in the tub after the circ and have not had any problems. Twice a year we have "Bootie Camp" and have a live demo on how to use the tub and then we encourage the Dad to practice before discharge. Lila, CNM from Ilinois
Tummy Tub is a great idea. Most of all I like that baby is upright and I can fill it enough with water to keep baby warm in the bath. The tubs that lie back make me so sad because baby has to be cold during bath time or bath time has to be quicker so to avoid making baby chilly. This is a GREAT solution for keeping baby happy and warm! Thanks again so much for your contribution to my classes and my work. I can safely say that moms are excited to get their hands on the tummy tub as we play bath time in class!

I was among the skeptical when the Tummy Tub first came in. As with many of our products, our clients & friends were clamoring for this product, but to me, it looked like a bucket. For a bucket, I must admit, it looked a little pricey! Then I tried it and I can honestly say there is NO comparison, not only with a simple bucket, but with any other bath tub or container I have ever used! With 2 month old baby Ava, it was our first non-screaming bath ever. Bathtime went from a chore and an ordeal to a truly delightful time of exploration, play and bonding, and at 7 months, Ava is now a confirmed water baby. We put her in the tub just to calm her down!
